Your biological clock is ticking and you know it is about time you think about having a family.  The technicalities aside, how do you really get pregnant?  You’ve crossed the first hurdle. Wanting to have a baby is a great start.  The next thing you should do is to see your doctor for a thorough check-up to ensure that you are in good healthy for pregnancy.  Should there be any illnesses, it is good to find out now and have it treated.  Also certain medications are not safe for pregnancy.  Your doctor should be able to tell you the medicine you are taking causes any harm. Your doctor will also advice you to stop all forms of contraceptives at least three months before you get pregnant.   

When it comes to understanding how to get pregnant, you will need to know yourself and watch out for certain signs and symptoms.  For example, knowing when you ovulate.  The period of ovulation is also termed as the window of opportunity.  This is the best time to conceive.  There are several ways to track ovulation.  Monitoring your basal temperature and observing cervix mucus consistencies are just some of the simple tests you can perform yourself.   

Normally couples can take any time from one month to a year to get pregnant.  But if you are concern about your fertility, it’s best you get a doctor’s advice.
